Thaldakoshi Bridge

Khumbu is the most popular trekking destination in the Khumbu Valley of the Everest region. The Valley is about 90 km away from Kathmandu and lies in the north- eastern part of Nepal close to the Nepal-Tibet border. Khumbu is a flamboyantly beautiful trekking route of the entire Himalayas. This trekking offers you the most astonishing panoramic view of Mt. Everest and other Himalayan ranges of the Khumbu Valley and the enchanting beauty of the Sherpa settlement of Khumbu along the Sagarmatha National Park. This region was declared as the Sagarmatha National Park by the government in 1976 and listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1979. This trek is ideal for all those who love the cultural and natural landscapes.

This trek is organized to take you to the heights of the Himalayas and reveal to you the scenic beauty of 5 major peaks ranging over 8,000 meters including Mount Everest. Great glacial ridges, hanging valleys, the entire U shaped Khumbu valley, fluvial terraces and the mystic beauty of the mountains are brought to you on a platter. Beside the scenic beauty of the Himalayas, you will also enjoy the live glaciers, glacial lake in Khumbu, traditional Sherpa customs and the wonderful flora and fauna found in this region. The major notable peaks you can see here are the great sequence of Kongde peaks, Mt. Cho Oyu (8,189 m), the entire Thame valley with all the peaks around Thame, Sumder Himal, the Rolwaling region with Mt. Pharchamo, Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,501 m), Nuptse (7,896 m), Lhotse Shar (8,383 m), Ama Dablam, Pumori, Gyachung Khang, Thamserku, Kang Tega, Kusum Khangkaru and Makalu (8,463 m).

To begin the trek, we take a short 30 minutes’ flight to Lukla airport. Lukla is the main gateway where everyone has to get through as the trek and expeditions begin from Lukla. After walking one hour away from Lukla, you reach a 140 meters long hanging bridge at Thaldakoshi. This bridge is hanging over a big gorge without big river but both side of the gorge gets cutting every year. This bridge is present in a very dangerous moment and can collapse at any moment in the near future. If this bridge gets collapsed, all the trekkers, trekking crew and the locals have to ascend and descends for 3 hours extra walk to reach to the other side as there is not any other option of having bridge nearby.

All the locals and tourism entrepreneurs are worried of this possible collapses which may let the trekkers and the locals to make another 3 hours extra long walk which make extend one more day walk to reach Namche. That is why installing of new bridge in this place right now is the top most essential priority.

I would like to suggest Everest Future Foundation to install this bridge to benefit all the trekkers, trekking & expedition crews and all the local people. Everyone those who visit Khumbu for trekking and expedition both cross this bridge and see the importance of the work Everest Future Foundation has done in the place. I plan to install an actual good board mentioning the name of Jing and the Everest Future Foundation to show the effort prepared by Jing and Everest Future Foundation to the whole world.
